  • 9:00am - Opening Remarks - Patrick Lynch, FD, Past MFDA & NFDA President
  • 9:10am - How to Create and Show Your Value - David Peake, FD, PFDA President-Elect - This program will explore where our profession is and where it is headed. You will be able to identify the gaps that your funeral home has and begin to fill the voids.
  • 9:40am - Cremation and Where We are Going - Stephanie Doriguzzi, FD, PFDA President - This presentation will discuss national and state trends regarding the steady increase in cremations. It will also discuss ways funeral directors can educate the public on misconceptions of cremation, to provide a better service for the families they serve.
  • 10:10am - Rights to Disposition - Kathy Ryan, Esquire, PFDA Executive Director - This program will review Pennsylvania's rights to disposition law and explore real-world examples of numerous situations that funeral directors must navigate. You will learn what steps to take to best protect yourself, your license, and the funeral home when it comes to difficult rights to disposition cases.
  • 10:40am - Communication and Interaction - Debra Ashton-Chase, FD, PFDA Past President - In the words of comedian Demetri Martin, "Saying, 'I'm sorry' is the same as saying, 'I apologize.' Except at a funeral." This presentation will explore effective communication skills for the funeral service professional.
