This present
ation will review the importance of quality body preparation and feature po
sitioning. Topics addressed during the first hour include “pre-embalming an
alysis.” This simple, yet all-important step, can be the difference between
a successful embalming and a failure. We must become proficient in allowin
g the body to direct us as we begin our technical embalming. We will discus
s in detail, various challenges/complications that will require us to pull
out all the stops to “do it right.” We will also cover: Edema, jaundice, re
nal failure, cardiac events, drug overdoses, tissue gas, donor cases and au
topsied cases. Special emphasis will be placed on chemical selection, injec
tion sites, pressure/rate of flow, and topical treatments.
The second hour will cover “Soft Tissue Repair a
nd Restorative Efforts of Face & Head.” During this portion of the prog
ram, we will cover several traumatic injury “case studies,” including other
situations we routinely see in our embalming rooms. We will study, step by
step, the procedures, techniques, and restorative efforts to ensure accept
able “open casket” results. Q&A will be encouraged throughout as we pro
vide graphic images to demonstrate the techniques and products used.

span>Funeral professionals can no lo
nger take customer loyalty for granted. Many funeral directors feel like th
ey are losing ground to cremation and other non-traditional sources of comp
etition. Most funeral professionals are blaming the changing funeral consum
er for declining loyalty, but the REAL problem is much closer to home. Duri
ng this eye-opening presentation, participants will learn the true reason f
or declining customer loyalty and take away actionable steps to rebuild cus
tomer loyalty and grow their businesses.
In this program, we will:
- Discuss the biggest challenges facing our profession and the impac
t on the business.
- Define the
problem of declining customer loyalty in terms of the changing characterist
ics of the funeral consumer.
- D
efine loyalty and what this means to the funeral consumer and to the funera
l home.
- Explain the “empathy p
aradox” and change.
- Explore ho
w to build lasting loyalty and provide value through an understanding of th
e realized and unrealized needs of today’s funeral consumer.
