Amelia Ann (Lauck) Rothermel
Hoover Funeral Home - Wife of PFDA Member Jim Rothermel
Amelia Ann (Lauck) Rothermel, 88, of Masonic Village, Elizabethtown, formerly of Palmyra, passed away on August 29, 2025.
She was born November 8, 1936 in Hershey, daughter of the late Joseph E. and Kathryn M. (Brandt) Lauck. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother, Joseph F. "Bud" Lauck.
Amelia was a 1954 graduate of Palmyra HS; a 1958 graduate of Hood College; and in 1962 received her master’s degree in social work from the University of Pennsylvania. She was employed by the former Family and Children’s Services of Lebanon County. She also assisted her husband, Jim in the operation of their family business, the former Rothermel Funeral Home in Palmyra. She served as a Board Member for the Family and Children's Service Foundation, Palmyra Library, Penn Central Conference of the United Church of Christ, and United Church of Christ Home where she also served as president. She was a member of the Hershey Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed listening to symphony music, playing piano, reading, current events, politics, and spending time with family and friends.
Amelia is survived by her loving husband of 63 years,, James A. “Jim” Rothermel; a devoted mother to sons, John N. (Heather) Rothermel, and David J. (Laura) Rothermel; and an adoring grandmother to grandchildren, Molly (John) Cook, Megan (Daniel) Rebar, Michael Rothermel (Samantha) and Rachel Rothermel; great-grandchildren, Lucy and Sebastian Cook, Benjamin and Elizabeth Rebar; step-grandchildren, Danielle (Andrew) Hoffman and Logan Gaidos.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 6th at 11AM at the Hoover Funeral Home of Hershey. The family will begin receiving guests at 10AM. Interment will follow in the Gravel Hill Cemetery in Palmyra.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial contributions be made to Citizens Fire Company No. 1, 35 W. Walnut St, Palmyra, PA 17078.
