James Alan Petrilli

James Alan Petrilli, F.D., 79, formerly of Hazleton, PA, passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2026. Born in Louisville, KY, he was the son of the late Vincent and Irma (Eberle) Petrilli. He was a graduate of the American Academy of Funeral Services in New York City, following in his father’s career path, as his father was the owner of the former Vincent Petrilli Funeral Home in Freeland. James was the owner and operator of the former Cotterall-Petrilli Funeral Home in Freeland, PA and the former Beltz-Petrilli Funeral Home in Hazleton, PA for 36 years. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, stationed in San Juan, Puerto Rico on the USS Austin LPD4, a Helicopter Carrier. James belonged to several organizations including a Lifetime Member of The Elks Club for 59 years, The American Legion for 48 years, former President of The Mt City Lions Club, Luzerne County Funeral Directors Association and The National Funeral Directors Association.

He is survived by Wife, Karen Lucas Petrilli; Brother, Paul Petrilli and his wife, Lori of Murfreesboro, TN; Sister, Angela Petrilli Ronky and her husband, Robert of Whitehall; and several Nieces and Nephews.

Services: A Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to Noon, with a Prayer Service at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Aug 22, 2026, at Frank J. Bonin Funeral Home, 532 N. Wyoming St, Hazleton, PA 18201. Interment to follow St. Anthony's Cemetery in Freeland, PA. Local Arrangements by Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, Allentown.
